PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE!!! There is some VERY important info on this page!

Please take your shoes off and leave them outside before entering our home. We breed other animals and try to prevent the spread of germs and/or disease as much as possible. Thank you!!!


  Deposits, payments, & reserving:   

  • ANY deposit placed on an animal from Fairhaven Hedgehogs is not refundable for ANY reason. Your non-refundable deposit is paid through a PayPal invoice, and the remaining balance  is due in  cash upon pick up.

  • A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve  a hedgehog for you until their "ready date"  or to get onto our waiting list.  The deposit goes towards the total price of the hedgehog.  The deposit is  paid through a PayPal invoice, which you can pay with any debit/credit card.   • Once we have discussed reservation your chosen hedgehog will be put ON HOLD for 24 hours. If you do not pay your deposit within 24 hours your hedgehog will be made available again. Babies get reserved quickly, so please make sure to pay your deposit ASAP or the baby becomes available again in 24 hours!

  • Once your deposit has been paid, your chosen hoglet will be moved to our "Reserved Hedgehogs" page, and their status will say reserved for "insert your name". If you buy our heating set up or cage set up you will also see that noted underneath your hedgehog's price  in red. So if you ordered anything from us and don't see it noted, please make sure to email us to make sure we received your order.

    Visiting, updates, pictures:

  • We do not allow people to visit or "play" with our babies before they are ready to go home! PERIOD.  We are not a pet store. If you are unsure about a baby you would like to reserve I can take some videos for you...  I do not allow the public to handle our babies because it is a HUGE risk to their HEALTH. And I want you to be getting a 100% healthy baby. Having the public handle our babies exposes them to lots of germs and possible viruses. They do not have a fully developed immune system to protect them. So we only allow you to handle YOUR baby once you come pick him/her up. If you come pick up and decide that your chosen baby is not all you hoped it would be, you can absolutely decide to NOT take that baby home. If that happens, your deposit will go towards a future baby and you can go back onto our waiting list for future litters. Or we might be able to show you other available babies if we happen to have any at the time. I have NEVER had this happen though. All my babies are super sweet and normally it is love at first sight when you come for your pick up appointment!

  • We DO  have scheduled "meet & greets". This is a group appointment normally done with multiple familes that have no hedgehog experience or simply just want to learn more about hedgehogs and meet one  before they decide that a hedgehog is the right fit. This is usually done with one of our adult hedgehogs. IF we have weaned babies that have not beem reserved yet, yes you can set up a meet & greet appointment to view them.   • PICTURES/UPDATES: You are welcome to email/text us for updates on your baby at any time while you are waiting for him/her to be ready to go!!! We try to give updated pictures here and there. But hedgehogs are not always super cooperative when we are trying to get their pictures. Sometimes it takes hours upon hours just to get the pictures you see on the website! We take the first pictures of babies normally between 3-4 weeks old and then list them on our website. We will then update the pictures on the website normally at 5-6 weeks old if we have time. We just do not always have time to sit around and take pictures all day for every customer. We have lives outside of the hedgehogs too! Thanks so much for understanding! 
Picking up:  

  • We offer delivery for FREE up to 30 mins away. If you are farther away, we can still deliver to you but will charge a small fee for gas and our time spend traveling. Please let us know in advance if you would like us to deliver your hedgehog to you.

  • The remaining balance is  due upon pick up/delivery. Cash ONLY at time of pick up. We do NOT accept credit/debit at pick up. We also do NOT accept checks of any kind for payment. Cash is the only form of payment we accept at time of pick up/delivery.

  • Once your hedgehog is weaned at 5-6 weeks old, and has gained adequate weight, I will email you to schedule your  pick up appointment. Hedgehogs  have to be at least 7 weeks old and weighing over 170 grams before they leave! Most hedgehogs are ready to  leave at 7-8 weeks. Some may need more time.

  • Your hedgehog NEEDS to be picked up no later than one week after I have sent you the email stating that he/she is READY TO GO! If not picked up within this time frame you will forfeit your deposit and your hedgehog will be made available again! If you need us to hold onto your hedgehog longer than one week after he/she is ready  we will be happy to do so but there is a boarding charge of $5 per night if we need to hold onto your hedgehog any longer than 1 week past the ready date.

  • When you come to pick up your new hedgehog, a pick up  appointment must be scheduled for A SET TIME. Your appointment will be scheduled for one hour. If you are going to be late, please call us. If you are going to be more than 20 minutes late, we will need to reschedule your appointment. NO exceptions!  I often have other appointments on the same day! Same applies to delivery. Please give us a set date & time.

  • Please bring something to take your new hedgehog home in. A small animal carrier is perfect. This does not apply if we are delivering to you. We will bring your hedgie in a take home box you can keep.

  • We will go over any  questions you  have during your pick up appointment and the best way to handle your new pet. We want to make sure you are comfortable handling your new pet before you leave!

  • There will be a contract, health guarantee, and USDA sales agreement/receipt to sign. This is done before I bring your hedgehog out so no one is distracted while we go over the paperwork. Please read our contract & health guarantee before your appointment: Contract & Health Guarantee

  • If you plan to buy your cage set up or heat set from me PLEASE order it on our website before your pick up appointment. Cage sets are all made to order! And we need at least 24 hours to make one.  Please allow 2-5 days for heat sets as they might need to be ordered and shipped to us.

  • If you are bringing multiple family members with you to our home, our policy is no more than 4 family members on pick up day. We have a no young child (if they are under 8)  policy unless the pet is specifically going to be for them. I like to keep things calm and quiet on pick up day and would prefer not to stress your new hedgie too much before they go to their new home.  Please let me know if you must bring younger children with you, we sometimes can make exceptions.  Please remember though, this is my home and not a petting zoo. If you must bring younger children with you,  please do not let your children run around my home and touch things they are not allowed to touch. Please do NOT let your children stick their hands or fingers into any animal cages in our home!  Pick up day does not need to be a whole family event. Remember that everyone can meet your new pet once he/she  is all settled in at home with you.

  • We do have other animals in our house, including dogs and cats. So please let us know ahead of time if you have a severe allergy and we can meet you somewhere close by our house if needed.


  • We do NOT sell our hedgehogs for breeding purposes unless previously discussed with us. Most of the time we only sell hedgehogs for breeding purposes to other USDA licensed breeders we know and trust!

  • Pedigrees are not provided unless you purchase your hedgehog with breeding rights. If you intend to breed, please be honest with us so that we can provide a quality animal to you with good bloodlines. We love working with other breeders, and will help out newbies as long as you have done the proper research on breeding hedgehogs.  There is A LOT more to breeding quality hedgehogs than people think! Our hedgehogs come from very diverse bloodlines from all over the US! We have shipped in hedgehogs from almost every state in the US, and we have a good relationship with TONS of other well known reputable breeders.

  • We do sometimes mentor new breeders, but NOT often. If you are a breeder we are not familiar with or a new breeder just starting out and want to purchase with breeding rights, please read this entire page about hedgehog breeding and fill out the questionnaire at the bottom of that page: Hedgehog breeding

Returns & refunds:  

  • We will take any animal back if it was produced by us.

  • HALF of the purchase price is refunded if the animal is returned to us within ONE WEEK of purchase!  If returned to use after ONE WEEK, you are no longer  eligible for any type of refund!

  • No refunds will be given for any reason if surrendering your animal to us after the ONE WEEK period.

  • Please let us know if you ever need to re-home your hedgehog, we will always help you find a home if you do not want to return it to us. We like to know where our hedgehogs end up, in the case they ever need to be re-homed!!! We don't want them in the wrong hands, or in shelters/rescues!
